any questions you may have regarding Kingsdown Rectory.
Can I arrange a viewing?
Our Events Manager will be more than pleased to show you around. To arrange a viewing please use the ‘Contact Us’ form on the website or call us on 01795 385 335.
What are your opening times for events?
9am - 5pm (12am on event day) Monday - Sunday
Music at the end of the night finishes at 11:30pm, all guests to depart by 12am.
Can we have a live band?
Live music including bands & DJ’s are permitted at the venue on event day. The hirer must notify KR no later than 2 weeks before their Hire Date with details including music genre, start/end times of performance(s), location, and number of musicians attending. Agreement is subject to the written consent of the venue.

How many vehicles can park at Kingsdown Rectory?
We have parking for up to 36 cars with 2 minibus bays and 2 taxi bays at the front for loading and unloading passengers.
Can we arrive in a limousine?
For reasons of health & safety and access we are unable to accommodate long wheel based limousines over 5 metres in length.
Can you tell me more about the Ceremony Room?
At Kingsdown Rectory we have one indoor ceremony area; a beautiful bright double aspect room in a lovely setting on the ground floor, with a capacity of 60 seated guests. There is the option of using our lime wash Chiavari chairs and projector screen for sharing your wonderful memories. Being indoors ensures the chance of any bad weather will not affect your big day.
What do I need to know about arranging a marquee?
The maximum size we can hold can’t exceed 125 guests. Marquees can be erected up to 3 days prior for all the necessary decorations, rehearsals and table arrangements to be completed. Marquees must be removed within 2 days following an event. So, for example a hire period for an event on Saturday would be Wed - Mon.
Can we bring our own food and drink to the venue?
Kingsdown Rectory uses trusted marquee and catering companies to make your day go smoothly. We are licenced to sell alcohol, so no food or drink (including alcoholic drinks) may be used or brought into the Venue by you or your guests other than those served by us please
Do you allow fireworks on the venue grounds?
We do not permit the use of fireworks, sparklers, or Chinese / sky lanterns due to noise restrictions and health and safety.
Do you have a microphone on site?
We don’t, however a microphone could be connected to the surround sound system in the Ceremony Room for speeches and announcements during ceremonies
Where is the nearest accommodation?
We do not have a Bridal Suite or offer accommodation at Kingsdown Rectory, but there are plenty of nearby hotels in Sittingbourne (10 min drive), Faversham (20 min drive) and Maidstone (25 min drive). Some of these are:

Can we decorate the venue ourselves?
The venue can be decorated both by your friends or family or any hired decorator, please inform our Event Manager and we can discuss timings. Our Events Team are also happy to set out any small decorations i.e. candles, lanterns, photo frames etc for you.

Can we have candles in the venue?
We do allow candles within the venue, however we do ask for health and safety reasons that all candles are sufficiently supported and protected away from people, flammable items and material.
Is the use of confetti permitted?
We do allow the use of flower petals and bio-degradable confetti, the use of spray ‘silly string’ spray-can streamers, ‘party poppers’ or plastic/coated confetti is not permitted outside or within the venue.
Does the venue have disabled access?
There are two disabled parking bays located by the main house at the end of the driveway. Marquees are on grass so please make sure your organiser and /or marquee company provide adequate pathways and walkways between the car parking areas, marquee location and main house e.g for ceremonies.
Who do I contact for arranging the wedding ceremony?
Once you’ve booked the date for the ceremony through our co-ordination team here at Kingsdown Rectory, you’ll need to contact Kent County Council Registration Quality & Standards Team T: 03000 414003. They will prepare the necessary paperwork and arrange for the attendance of registrar staff at the ceremony. Kent County Council charge a fee for this. These fees can be found on www.akentishceremony.com.
What other ceremonies are available?
In addition to civil marriages and partnerships, other ceremonies can be held at Kingsdown Rectory on a one day hire basis (subject to availability). These are:
• Renewal of Vows
This is for couples who wish to renew their marriage or civil partnership vows.
This is for parents who wish to have a non-religious ceremony to welcome a new addition to the family. This could be a new baby, an adopted child or where the parents are re-marrying or entering into a partnership and wish to welcome the children from previous marriages / relationships into the new family. This ceremony can be added to a marriage or civil partnership ceremony.
These ceremonies have no legal basis and although the preferred option is to perform them in our licensed Ceremony Room here at Kingsdown Rectory, they can take place in any other agreed room / area or within the grounds.
